Centre for Sustainable Road Freight
Performs research into low carbon road freight
The Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (SRF) is a collaboration between Cambridge, Heriot Watt and Westminster Universities and the freight transport industry. It is a comprehensive research programme tackling important avenues of potential sustainability improvements for road freight and assessing solutions to meet government emissions reduction targets.
Industry members include freight operators, as well as manufacturers from the logistics and heavy vehicle sectors. Advisory members include local, city and national government transport agencies, and major trade and research organisations. The Centre performs fundamental and applied research into low carbon road freight, including vehicle engineering, logistics and policy.
The Centre is funded by a combination of research grants from the UK Research Councils, Innovate UK, The Transport Systems Catapult and other sources, as well as annual subscriptions from industry partners.
